Executive coaches work in most large organisations in the UK and play a key role in helping leaders work effectively. However, coaching that develops leadership ability is equally relevant for independent professionals because clients often expect them to take up leadership roles without organisational authority. In these circumstances high quality leadership skills are extremely important.

There is usually an initial meeting or teleconference at the start of the coaching programme to agree the focus of the work, and the logistics. Subsequent coaching coaching sessions will normally be on the telephone (or face-to-face if mutually convenient). Telephone coaching sessions normally last about 45 minutes and take place fortnightly or weekly.
