About New Projections
New Projections was founded by John Hannon in 2003. Having worked in the IT function for a number of large UK and multinational organisations John understood from his own experience the importance of developing effective management and leadership skills.
In most organisations people are promoted into management because of their success as an individual contributor in a specific field such as IT or change management. Paradoxically, the greater their previous success the more difficult it can be to make a successful transition into leadership. Organisations recognise the need to learn new skills and provide training programmes but often underestimate the challenges people face in applying that knowledge to their own situation. John experienced for himself the steepness of this learning curve and witnessed the cost to the organisation and its people that can be caused by unskilled leaders. Extensive research by Gallup has shown that “people join companies but leave managers”. Any organisation that wants to grow its people and retain talent needs to ensure that its leaders are operating at a high level.
New Projections aims to enhance IT leadership effectiveness through one-to-one coaching. The prime focus is coaching but where appropriate group programmes are offered, complemented by coaching.
